Karen LeCocq is a mixed media sculptor who has shown nationally and internationally in galleries as well as major museums, among them: The Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY, The Armand Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, CA, and The Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, CA. She works primarily in assemblage, using found objects. The materials used are an earthy blend, ranging from weathered animal bone to rusted steel. The objects used take on a new life when they are joined within the piece, showing an unfamiliar way of looking at something that was once common and insignificant, now possessing a fresh existence and mystery.
