GALLERY 10 Announces an exhibit of
INSTALLATIONS and ASSEMBLAGES by MAXINE R. CABLE.
Maxine R. Cable’s new room size installations, A New World Order,
Guru Arising, War: United States/Horse-Shoe Crab 2, and assemblages Artifacts, Past, Present,
Future explore the diverse belief systems of many cultures. Elements from earlier works
increase an ongoing dialogue with the concept of impermanence. Found objects, popular stuff,
beach balls, representing lost worlds, toy dinosaurs reminding the viewer of extinct powerful
creatures, sound and light enhance the mood, frightening or fun. Natural objects identify
decay and renewal in our world system.
Maxine R. Cable is well known for her provocative work, and has exhibited extensively
in the Washington area and throughout the United States and internationally. Recent exhibits
include: Art in Embassies Program, Rangoon, Burma, Amos Eno Gallery, New York, NY, ARC Gallery,
Chicago, Ill., FYR Gallery, Florence, Italy, Galleria Venezia Via, Venice, Italy,
outdoor installation, Adkins Arboretum, Ridgely, Maryland.
